Fusion 360: Adding Details
#7: Learn how to add details that will strengthen and refine your designs, making them 3D-printer-ready
Hello readers,
I’m sorry for the brief hiatus. I had a few hectic weeks between illness and holidays, but I’m back with a new lesson!
Today’s lesson will teach you about fillets.
This is one of the Modify features found in Fusion 360 that allows you to round corners and edges on already extruded designs. Fillets allow you to refine your designs, making them less sharp when manufactured and more durable to stress on connection points. It is important to consider that because 3D printing can cause weakness in certain areas of designs, due to the direction of the layers and the adhesion between them.
Beginner’s Adding Details Tutorial
In this video I will:
Utilize an existing 3D model
Add fillets to all faces and sides
Explore and solve the challenges that appear throughout the process
Exercise
Load an existing 3D model that you created
Add fillets of varying radii to your design, based on how rounded you would like corners to be and on the locations of possible stress
You can always access previous lessons in the XYZ Lesson Library Archive.
